The MacGahan American Bulgarian Festival is held the weekend closest to the birthdate (June 12) and death date (June 9) of Januarius MacGahan, native son of New Lexington. Next year will mark the 40th annual festival and the 140th anniversary of the death of MacGahan. New Lexington is one hour southeast of Columbus, OH.
Detailed festival events
Memorial service Saturday morning at the grave of MacGahan in the New Lexington Cemetery at 10:30 am.
Celebrant: The Reverend Father Vladimir Bakurdzhiev from St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Vocal selection by elementary students from New Lexington City Schools concluding with Taps by Jacob Faber
Floral tribute at the MacGahan statue at Main and Brown Streets across from the Perry County Court House.
Luncheon and program at noon at the Perry County District Library on Jackson St. (a block from the statue)
